Entrepreneur of the Year
In the North East there are a number of PR specialists who are all competing for the same business. My response to this has been to adopt an attitude of collaboration rather than one of competition.
I often team up with PR agencies to deliver training on digital marketing for their clients and focus on working on joint projects where possible. By doing this, I demonstrate my expertise and raise my profile with businesses which I may not otherwise get in front of as a sole trader.
I have also established a network of like-minded professionals who can help me deliver on large projects. For example, as a specialist purely in PR and communications, it can often be quite difficult for me to win work on projects where photography and design in needed as well as PR. To overcome this, I jointly pitch for this type of work with designers and photographers within my network who I trust to complete it. This allows KD Communications to pitch for the same type of work as a large PR and design agency, which ensures my brand is out there in the marketplace where it needs to be.
This flexible and collaborative approach has been hugely successful to date, allowing me to win work with national businesses like Home Group Limited, Short, Richardson and Forth LLP and Maymask Healthcare Group Limited. This in turn, has raised the profile of my brand and secured the future of my business.
